The "in between days" of Autumn.

There is a bit of a wildlife "gap" at the moment with the activity of the Spring and Summer behind us and the big changes of winter still to come.

Last night's trail cameras revealed one pheasant and a load of rabbits and nothing else. Nothing much is growing and the trees continue to slowly lose their leaves.

I paid visit to "my" nature reserve at Tarn Sike today and did get a good sighting of a flock of about 50 widgeon, some teal, and dozens of common gull. My best photograph was this shot of a roe deer.

We are still getting regular visits from our red squirrels. They are here every day and we sometimes see two or three at a time. The squirrels are very fond of the bird feeder attached to a window. This shot shows how tame they are - the dog watches with interest but the squirrels don't bother.

Diary
Its chilly overnight (down to 3C) and day time temps of around 12C. Its overcast today.
