After the Storm

Storm Arwen went through over the weekend. 90 mph winds on the coast and some snow. A couple of people were killed by falling trees and swathes of the North East are without powers. Not a lot of snow here but we had a very windy night. Some tree limbs have blown off the bigger ash trees that edge our top field.

The winds have abated now but day time temps are still below 0C.

Diary
Large flocks of fieldfare in our fields. They are very nervous and won't let me get closer than about 30 m before they fly off. We had a female sparrowhawk hunting around the bird feeders and I saw both a kestrel and low flying buzzard yesterday. A lot of wood mice on the trail camera and a rather unclear image of what I am sure is a redwing. Ther common gulls are back - too stormy for them on the coast?
