Noisy Neighbours

Why on earth is he showing a video taken in his bathroom  at 3.00am last night? Well play it with the sound turned right up and you will find out!

The culprits are the ones I wrote about some days back - tawny owlets. I photographed these last year. Tawny owlets leave the nest before they can fend for themselves and they hop/fly from perch to perch and make this contact call which translates as "here I am mum - feed me". The adults keep an eye on them for some months and it is the autumn before they go off to find a territory for themselves. At this early stage of their lives they sometimes fall to the ground but are able to climb back up a nearby tree to gain enough height for the next leap into the unknown. I was quite pleased to hear them but this wore off after the first hour!

Diary
I have been scanning the skies to try and get another sighting of the red kite but we had thunder storms yesterday and I have had no luck so far. Camera traps have showed fox and badger. I have found it productive to trap the area around a rabbit warren and have clips of foxes checking out the burrows ant this clip of a fox making a successful kill.
