Bee Orchid

On  11th June I incorrectly labeled a photograph of a fly orchid as a bee orchid! I am putting things right - I have edited the earlier post and I am showing proper contrition by posting a photo of the genuine bee orchid taken today. These are pretty rare around here so I am not posting the exact location.

Whilst I have started on the humble pie I should acknowledge that the photo I posted yesterday with what I thought were eggs on its back is likely to be suffering from an infestation of ticks rather than carrying eggs. I took more expert advice and I stand corrected.

We had an unexpected visitor to our back door yesterday. A hedgehog turned up in broad daylight. I am not sure what was wrong with it but suspect its appearance might be due to it being disturbed by the farmer next door cutting his silage crop.

We had good views of a sparrowhawk harrying a buzzard for 5 mins or so in the afternoon.
After the third glass of wine I forgot to set camera traps last night!
