Scarlet Elf Cup
We woke to a few centimetres of snow today. Perhaps there will be wildlife to look at once the blizzard has stopped. I went for a walk yesterday to try and find out where our badgers are living. I'm afraid I failed but I was delighted to stumble across some Scarlet Elf Cap fungi. Their fruiting bodies shine like little scarlet jewels among the leaf litter.
Apparently these are edible - but I don't think I fancy it!
Diary Notes
Overnight trail cams revealed the usual crop of rabbits, a cat (from the local farm?) and some roe deer. It was good to see the deer as we heard a lot of gunshots last night and were worried for our deer - we saw seven of them at once grazing in a distant field at dusk yesterday.
