Badgers Plus!

Well that was a productive night with the camera traps last night! I captured two clips of badgers. We have lived here for 12 years and have never seen badgers here so it was a delight to see images.

I haven't noticed  any badger setts about although I gather that the home range of a badger can be between 20 and 50 hectares and badgers have been known to travel up to 20k in a night. I will be having a good look this week though!
Even more unexpected was the tantalising glimpse of another animal in this next clip.I have checked this out with members of the Cumbria Mammals Facebook group who have confirmed that it is a sighting of a polecat. Two firsts for our property in the space of one night! Polecats were very uncommon at one stage but we have come across a couple of road kill in the area around the house on our daily dog walks in the last few years and they are apparently becoming more common.
