Giant Bellflower

Some wildflowers are very common in some parts of Britain but don't occur at al in others. The giant bellflower is one such species. I had not heard of this flower at all until we moved to Cumbria but it is quite a common plant along the sides of the country lanes. The only good thing (as far as I can see) about local authorities being starved of money at the moment is that the frequency with which the verges of the country lanes are cut has reduced, and these plants are doing the better for it. This is quite a tall plant (maybe a metre high) with bell shaped flowers that are a pale blue or almost white.

This particular plant grows along the edge of our wildflower meadow.

Diary
It's forecast to rain today and the sky is grey and overcast. I was distracted by the final of the European Football match last night and failed to put out any camera traps!
