A Stoat Family

I hadn't intended to post today as things have been quiet. However , this morning we had a treat when a family of 6 young stoats had a play session on our lawn and I wanted to share it.

We are used to visits from stoats but we haven't seen a whole family all at once before. We think that these stoats denned in a dry stone wall behind the house. We know from last year that stoats move den regularly as the den becomes fetid and parasite ridden and we think that this lot are holed up in a wall at the side of the house for the time being. I had a fleeting glance of an adult yesterday.  Here are a few stills from today.

It won'y be long before this lot split up and go looking for a territory of their own.

Diary
It is becoming increasingly tricky to set the trail cams.  As the vegetation grows it only takes a slight breeze to get the grass swaying which sets off the camera. I did get a fox the night before last and a green carpet moth in the moth trap along with about 20 other moths.
