Seven Spotted Ladybird

A big change in the weather with a lovely sunny day and temps in the mid teens Centigrade. Warm enough apparently to allow for my first ladybird sighting of the season.

This is the Seven Spot Ladybird, and the most common in Europe. As the name suggests the easiest wayy to tell them apart is to count the spots. Gardeners should welcome them as they feast on aphids and other garden pests.

Also saw a lot more frogspawn in the pond (with a hungry newt inspecting it). My camera trap showed that the female sparrowhawk does indeed lurk underneath the garden barbecue set when it rains!
